Last night on the podcast we discussed some of the teams in the AFC that “scare” us going into the Divisional Round. Unanimously we all decided that one team would be the most favorable match up. This weekend it is obvious who Patriots fans should be rooting for, because one of the three eligible teams the Pats could face is the Houston Texans. The Patriots own the Houston Texans completely and always. They are like a little brother who thinks they can beat you up but you both know its not possible. The Pats could beat the Texans with their hands tied behind their back. They beat them 27-6 in Houston week 14 with no Julian Edelman, add Edelman to the equation and this game turns into a Colts-esque beat down. For me the ownership of the Texans franchise began in 2012 on Monday Night Football when big bad J.J. Watt and his crew all thought they were hot shit. It was one of the most touted games of the year and it turned into a bloodbath almost instantly. From then on the Texans have continued to be a garbage franchise and the Patriots are well…. the Patriots.
Can the Texans beat the Kansas City Chiefs? Sure, why not? Neither team is that good and when they matched up in week 1 it was only a one score game. If you want the easiest path to the AFC Championship you should be rooting for the Texans and the Steelers.
Some might argue that you want to play the best because a battle tested team is better than playing a practice squad in the first round. If you’re of this mindset then we want Cincinnati to beat Pittsburgh. Not only would this knock off the Steelers but it would give us a chance to see what this team has. I highly doubt Brady goes one and done this year. Not because I’m a “homer” but rather because I choose to look at facts. The facts are Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are Playoff nightmares for every team in the NFL. Everyone knows this team will claw its way back into every game, put away every team and do it with a smile on their face. NFL teams know they can’t show weakness, but they all will. As I am writing this AJ McCarron has been named starter this weekend. The Bengals could be dead in the water. Either way the Patriots will continue to dominate next weekend. Hopefully the football gods hand us another bye week. Feed me the Texans!!
