Today’s observations from Patriot OTA’s.
It was about 75 degrees on the practice field at Gillette, windy and partly sunny. The weather wasn’t hot temperature wise, but when the sun was out, it was hot.
7 months removed from an ACL injury, Patriots RB Dion Lewis returned to the field and looked tremendous cutting and planting on his leg with no problem what so ever. He showed great footwork and also how well he could adjust to passes that may have been a little off line. The rust showed with a couple of drops in passing drills but Lewis did participate in contested 11 on 11 drills which was great to see. And although Lewis would not confirm he would be back week 1, things are looking that way for him.
After practice, Lewis spoke about his main task this off season was to work hard. He went on to say he has a long way to go but he was excited to get back out there with his team mates. For now he is sticking to the plan. Coach Bill Belichick was asked if he was excited to have Dion Lewis back and in typical Coach Belichick fashion, answered with just a “Yes”.
