BOSTON (CBS) — The ESPYs took place Wednesday night, and although the Patriots haven’t had the best relationship with the network in recent years they still let Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski make cameos in two skits.
The part that should satisfy Patriots fans, however, came from host John Cena. The WWE superstar and West Newbury, Mass. native told a joke during his opening monologue that compared NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to Vince McMahon, the owner of WWE who has played a semi-fictional evil boss character for decades.
The whole sports world know that Goodell is bad for the league, but they don’t want to acknowledge it because the Patriots got punished and they are ok with that. It’s sad really. But John Cena brought it up and I love him for that.
