NY Daily News – What could quite possibly be Darrelle Revis’ $17 million farewell tour with the Jets added another rough chapter in Sunday’s 22-17 loss to the Patriots at MetLife Stadium.
Revis surrendered two touchdowns in the loss, including the game-winner in the form of an 8-yard touchdown pass caught by Malcolm Mitchell inside the two-minute warning. …
“Zero coverage. We had to protect inside, there’s no middle safety in the field,” Revis said, describing the play. “Protecting inside and they ran out routes.” …
Revis blamed the touchdown on the scheme, the Patriots running the exact play to beat it, and the pass rush failing to reach Brady.
“That’s the weak spot in the defense is the out routes,” Revis said. “I could have played outside technique but I’m leaving the middle of the field open. Definitely on that play the rush is supposed to get there.”
Don’t tell Darrelle Revis he is at fault for getting burned multiple times to blow last nights game. He’s not buying!!
This guy encapsulates the Pats Jets rivalry so well. He had good years with the Jets that led to absolutely nothing. Left for a couple years ended up with the Patriots putting a ring on his finger. Then went straight back to the hell hole in East Rutherford, New Jersey to let his career die for millions of dollars. Everyone in the NFL knows that Revis is washed up and he even admitted that his body is breaking down but last night was so embarrassing he had to throw everyone in sight under the bus to make himself feel better. If there was an equipment manager in his vicinity he would have probably said that guy somehow blew the coverage.
This is just pathetic and the New York Jets deserve every bit of this. This is what you get for signing him for 70 Million dollars for 5 years. He wasn’t worth a quarter of that deal and the Jets were too busy being the Jets to realize it.
