Patriots defensive back Logan Ryan and Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will see plenty of each other during Super Bowl LI, but for now they aren’t speaking. According to NESN’s Doug Kyed, the college teammates at Rutgers have only shared emojis since the Patriots won the AFC championship game vs the Steelers.
“After we won the AFC championship, I gave him a little emoji of the two eyes. He gave me the emoji of the two eyes back. So, that’s all that’s been said. I’m sure if he has any questions logistically about family and stuff like that, but I’m sure we’ll meet up, try to get a picture of our kids together, so it’ll be cool.” – Logan Ryan
Ryan and Sanu will likely see plenty of each other during the Super Bowl as both are number two on their respective depth charts. Both are also known to work the slot. I am sure the college teammates know each others tendencies. This year Logan Ryan had 92 tackles to go along with two interceptions and a sack. Ryan led the team with 9 tackles last week vs the Steelers. Sanu was second on the Falcons with 653 reciving yards and added 4 touchdowns.
In a key situation, this matchup could be something to keep an eye on. With the two knowing each other so well, one or the other may take advantage and make a big play? It also will be fun to watch how they react to each other throughout the game. For now, it is fun to see how intense these two are. The two eye emoji says it all. When the Lombardi Trophy is on the line, all friendships go out the window.
