Over the course of Bill Belichick’s 17 seasons as the coach of the New England Patriots, fans have gotten pretty used to watching their favorite players move on to different teams via trades or free agency. Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Lawyer Milloy, Wes Welker, the list goes on and on. However, some losses cut deeper than others. Though Vince Wilfork’s time in New England reached its natural conclusion, it didn’t make the pain of losing the big man any easier.
It’s fitting, however, that Vince Wilfork’s career may end exactly where it started. With the news that Wilfork is considering retirement after the conclusion of the Texans playoff run, it would seem that barring a monumental upset, the big man’s final game will be played in familiar territory, Gillette stadium.
I will warn you, this tribute video may cause some liquid to involuntary leak from your eyes. Don’t be alarmed these are called tears. They sometimes appear while watching a 325-pound man rumble downfield after making an interception. If anyone asks, just say you were chopping onions earlier.
If you’re a Vince Wilfork and Fast and Furious/Paul Walker fan, I can’t imagine how difficult for you that was. My condolences.
