Even after years of enduring taunts and boos from the team’s fans, Alex Rodriguez can still say nice things about the Boston Red Sox. Asked who he thinks will make the World Series in 2017, FOX’s new baseball analyst made an interesting prediction given his personal history.
He chose the Red Sox.
“I like Nationals against the Red Sox,” Rodriguez predicted for the 2017 World Series. “The Nationals have a hell of a twosome with Trea Turner and Bryce Harper, and [the Red Sox] have a tremendous threesome with [Chris] Sale, [Rick] Porcello and David Price.”
Red Sox fans cheered for ARod to make one final plate appearance at Fenway just so they could boo them, then Rodriguez turns around and picks the Red Sox to go to the World Series, this is a guy that certainly knows how to turn off his emotions and be an analyst.
Rodriguez may be right, the Red Sox, along with the Chicago Cubs, are both heavy favorites to win the whole thing next year. David Price is the wild card here, if he can stay healthy and avoid further injury to his arm, Rodriguez will be right. But if Price goes down, the Red Sox would be in a very similar situation to last year. Price is the key to this season. The Red Sox lineup won’t have any problems putting up runs, the loss of Oritz will be felt both on the field and off the field, but this team can put up runs even without him.
I also think Pablo Sandoval is going to have a great season, he’s in the shape of his life and I think he is really going to surprise some people. Getting a solid player like him back is just as good as trading for someone. They’re paying him anyways, so it’ll be nice to see him perform.
Just 5 days until opening day, looking forward to a great season.
