WBZ Boston is reporting that former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who was found dead in his jail cell after apparently hanging himself early this morning, had “John 3:16,” a reference to the Biblical verse, written on his forehead in his own blood when his body was discovered.

John 3:16 reads: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
WBZ is also reporting that investigators are looking into the possibility that Hernandez had smoked synthetic marijuana before his death. K2, as it’s often referred to, has been known to be a hallucinogen and has been responsible for accidental deaths. How he would get that in prison is a mystery in itself.
Another station is reporting that blood was smeared on the walls of Hernandez’s cell: (this one here is bizarre)

This whole story has been absolutely insane. There has been so much speculation as to what happened and why. I’ve heard scenarios ranging from gang members telling him he goes or his family, to protecting his estate.
Hernandez’s attorney called for the investigation into this death which he believes wasn’t suicide, as well as Hernandez’s former agent tweeting out that he doesn’t buy the suicide story.
No matter what happened, the whole story is tragic. I think in the next few days we’re going to get a lot of information no matter what happened. Someone knows something, the question will then be, who to believe. So truthfully, we may never know.
