Free agent running back Adrian Peterson met with the Patriots today and he has left town without any sort of deal according to source:

It’s not to say the Patriots don’t revisit Peterson after he is done visiting with teams, but for now, Peterson is on his way out of town.
There are reportedly 3-5 other teams that are interested in Peterson. Peterson hasn’t named a price, it’s possible he would be willing to take a team friendly deal to get himself on a contending team.
If Peterson wants to win a ring, he would have handcuffed himself to the field Goal post at Gillette demanding a deal, or better yet, offered the Patriots money to play here.
The Patriots are still playing things slow with free agent LeGarrette Blount, it’s still possible that he returns. With the addition of Burkhead, the Patriots will be solid at the back position, Blount or Peterson would just add to that power back position.
