Last night in the 2nd period, the Bruins scored to make it 1-0 Bruins. Then it happened. Replay.
After the Bruins were in the Ottawa zone for 20 seconds and scored, the goal was under review. I thought ‘What? Why? No one interfered with the goalie, the puck wasn’t scored with a high stick. Oh right, offsides from 20 seconds ago.’
Dreaded offside review takes the Bruins goal off the board..again pic.twitter.com/iEexrfI2iW

After review, the Bruins were offsides, no goal. They were offside, it was the right call. That’s fine, that’s not my problem.
The problem I have is the fact that you can go back 20 seconds, or even longer and review a missed offside call. I equate this to scoring a touchdown in football and being able to go back and review a false start 8 plays ago. The ref missed a call, move on. They miss penalties all the time, maybe we should review that?
All I’m saying is if there’s a 2 on 1 breakout and a team scores right away, sure go review it. But when a team enters the zone, misses some shots, some passes, a hit or two, then a goal, sorry but you shouldn’t be able to go back retroactively and call offside.
This is severely flawed and should be changed. I’ll cry about this all day because I’ve even said it’s ridiculous when teams have gotten goals taken away that were scored on Boston.
The Bruins now trail 3-1 in the series and have their backs up against the wall. They’ll head to Ottawa to hopefully extend their season.
