Yesterday, Isaiah Thomas flew out to Washington to be with his family after the death of his sister.
He also released a statement for the first time since her passing: It was the first time we have heard from Thomas since the passing of sister Chyna. You have to feel for him right now. I’m sure his emotions are all over the place and he’s still playing basketball. That has to be tough, perhaps it’s the only thing taking his mind off things.
Despite criticism from folks like Charles Barkley, I think Isaiah has handled himself masterfully. He’s really been the Celtics only standout player in this series that they trail 0-2. Someone just yesterday said to me ‘the Celtics are screwed because Isaiah can’t perform in the playoffs’. I responded ‘what the hell are you talking about, he dropped 33 in game 1 and had a solid performance in game 2’. The problem isn’t Isaiah, it’s the performance of every single player around him. He needs help.
Hopefully going to Washington gives him closure and he can return and just take over this series. It’s the Celtics only hope, because no one else is going to do it.
