The New England Patriots not only won the Super Bowl, but they also won the offseason. This Patriots team has that special feel to it and are destined for great things.
According to Bleacher Report, NFL Execs think the Patriots are destined for 19-0 this season:
We’ve all heard offseason “Patriots 19-0” chatter before, but not to the decibel you hear now when you talk to team executives and assistant coaches around the league.
They think this is the year the Patriots win all their games, including the Super Bowl. This isn’t completely crazy since the Patriots came within a crazy helmet catch of doing it before.
They believe the Patriots are set up for perfection better than maybe any team in history—including the only team to do it, the 1972 Dolphins, and the Patriots team that lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl after the David Tyree catch.
They point to Tom Brady, of course, who is at the top of his game. They also note that coach Bill Belichick has built maybe the fastest, deepest version of the Patriots yet. They also point to how the rest of the division has yet to make significant gains on the Patriots in terms of finding a quarterback who is even in the same solar system as Brady.
At this point, it’s really all that Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have to accomplish. An undefeated team isn’t important to me, but it would certainly be nice to shut all those Dolphins fans up. You have to wonder if back in 2007 if the Patriots weren’t undefeated, if they would have had an easier time in that Super Bowl. I’m not saying the pressure got to everyone, but certainly some.
This season the Patriots, like every other season, will have a big giant target on their backs. Every game this team plays will be the opposing teams Super Bowl. Going undefeated would be a task in itself.
Getting one more Super Bowl ring for Brady to have him tie the Steelers entire franchise record? Now that’s something I would want to see, undefeated or not.
