Cody Bellinger admitted he didn't really know who Jerry Seinfeld was.

Cody Bellinger, a young rookie emerging star for the LA Dodger came out today and admitted he doesn’t know who Jerry Seinfeld is. The internet is angry today my friend, as Twitter has been giving Cody a bit of a hard time about it. I’m still not sure on my stance of the situation, and I’m a bit torn. I have a couple different thoughts on the situation, so I’ll explain each.
On one hand, he might get a pass. Cody is only 21 years old, so that means that Seinfeld ended when he was three. I guess it’s tough to appreciate the Soup Nazi when you can’t even read yet. I guess that might be a valid reason. He’s also a pro athlete, and pro athletes always have a little bit of weirdness to them.
On the other hand, this is the wildest thing I’ve ever heard. Seinfeld is arguably the best show ever. I don’t think I’ve gone a day without making a Seinfeld reference. Its to the point that I don’t even realize it any more. Also, does Cody not have TBS? Because I’m pretty sure TBS is made up of 90% Seinfeld reruns at this point, which is actually a great business model if you ask me.
Also, how do you not know who Jerry Seinfeld is? He’s one of those guys that you’re just born knowing. Like you can never watch an episode of Seinfeld and still know who he is. The amazing thing about Seinfeld, is that its so quotable that people make references to it without even knowing. Gold, Jerry, gold.
I also haven’t ruled out the possibility that Cody might just be playing mental games with Jerry. Sort of a genius humiliation tactic against the Mets to act like you have no idea who their most prominent fan is. Its the classic “do I know you” cuck that will drive anyone crazy, no matter how many Emmys or how much money you have.
So maybe Cody is a just a 21 year old kid who doesn’t watch a lot of TV, but maybe he might be a diabolical genius. Its a coin toss. Hopefully he’ll have a successful and long enough career that he’ll make enough money to get a Hulu account and watch some shows about nothing.
