This is beyond shameful. Yesterday, Gordon Hayward decided to sign with the Boston Celtics. It was a very long day for Celtics fans as it was initially reported in the early afternoon, but then was retracted and not confirmed yet. I, like many others, were then held hostage by their phones on the 4th of July awaiting confirmation.
Then, it finally happened, “Thank you Utah” Hayward wrote in The Players Tribune. Hayward noted that it was the hardest decision he has ever had to make, but he’s looking forward to what is ahead of him. Jazz fans took it with class, right? Nope. They took to Instagram to threaten not only Gordon, but also his wife, who posted this on Instagram, but had to take down because of all the threats she faced.
In this post, she acknowledged that they were threatened, which is absolutely disgusting. Robyn states: “Also, as for all the mean comments and threats, don’t forget that athletes are humans too. Treat others how you would like to be treated. It would never cross my mind to speak so negatively and so full of hate about oneself or their family.” High road, love you already Robyn.
First of all, it’s a game, if Hayward going to different city affects their lives, they may want to take a long hard look in the mirror and re-evaluate themselves. I get that it’s Utah and there’s really nothing else to look forward to, but that’s just atrocious. Utah fans can go back to burning Hayward jerseys and leave the family alone.
If you are on Twitter (don’t forget to follow us), look up the hashtag #Betrayward, it’s pathetic, here are just some of the low-lights.
He absolutely took the easy way out. I wish him nothing but the worst. I hope he sucks in Boston. And yes, I will boo. #betrayward
