The Madden 2018 player rankings are out and surprise surprise, Tom Brady is the #1 overall quarterback with a perfect rating of 99. I must admit I am mildly miffed that the creators at EA Sports did not make an exception for Mr. Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. by crowning him as the only player in Madden history to receive an actual perfect rating of 100. I’ll chalk it up to them not having the technology to insert three digit numbers into their gaming system. Maybe by the time Brady graces the Madden cover again in 2024 the nerds over at EA Sports will have figured out how to fix that glaring issue.
It’s also a borderline travesty that this year’s edition of the game does not have a rating for pliability. Every scout worth their salt knows that the only true barometer in determining a Quarterback’s overall ability is how pliable they are. It’s how you distinguish between the Tom Brady’s and Brady Quinn’s of the world. How am I ever supposed to draft Tom Brady’s successor in my Madden Franchise during the 2037 NFL Draft (which in my virtual world is when a 60 year old Tom Brady finally decides to hang it up) if I don’t know how flexible my QB prospect is? I certainly don’t expect toe touching or butterfly stretches to be included into the NFL Combine no matter how far into the future we get.
And if you’re curious, here’s the full break down of the top five QB’s in Madden 18–
- Tom Brady- 99
- Aaron Rodgers- 98
- Matt Ryan- 96 (Clutch rating 28)
- Drew Brees- 92
- Ben Roethlisberger- 91
