This exchange reminds me of a very poignant piece of biblical literature that I believe comes from a passage found in the Book of Matthew- “And Jesus broke bread with his disciples and said “The customer is always right.” (Matthew 26:39).
You know, I think that verse really applies in this situation. Sure the language used by this E-Z Pass customer is a little unsavory, but as a person of faith and customer service representative for E-Z Pass, this employee needs to remember the virtue of forgiveness and not hastily disconnect from this frustrated customer. Imagine what would of happened if Jesus had just tossed off his customer service headset every time some Roman doubted that he was the Son of God? Pretty sure If that happened all of humanity’s souls would be pretty screwed right about now.
So the next time a customer is getting a little crass with you, just think to yourself- “What would Jesus do?”
