The New England Patriots are hitting the road this week as they head to New Orleans to take on the Saints. They will be away from Gillette for the next two weeks, and when they return, they’ll have another new field surface.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston, the Patriots are in the process of reinstalling the field turf that was just installed back in May. The turf passed all National Football League and Major League Soccer safety standards, according to a Patriots spokesman. The change is a result of the surface not meeting team standards.

Over the last month, players have commented at how soft the field is at Gillette. The Patriots have only played 3 games on the field, two in the preseason and one in the regular season. Another type of synthetic turf will go down, at this point, I was hoping they would just bring back natural grass. This will be the third time the Patriots have changed field surfaces since 2014.
