Did Danny Ainge do it again? Or did Danny Ainge do it again? When Ainge traded for Kyrie Irving many sports pundits believed that Trader Danny had perhaps given up too many assets in the deal- Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the coveted 2017 Brooklyn Nets 1st round draft pick, a pick that many experts believe could be top three overall. Well now that the Nets have signed a stud in Tyler Zeller it looks like they will be basement dwellers no more. The Cavaliers would be lucky if they even secure a lottery pick from the Nets now that Zeller will be patrolling the paint.
Sure Zeller only averaged about 10 minutes a game during his last two seasons with the Celtics, but guess what? That just means he’s extremely well rested to explode for a career year and blossom into a center piece for the Nets franchise. I dare you to name a more imposing big three in the NBA than the Nets core of Tyler Zeller, Jeremy Lin, and D’Angelo Russell.
Ainge must of had some inside information regarding Zeller signing with the Nets, and as soon as he found out that he was likely to sign with Brooklyn, Ainge swindled the Cleveland Cavaliers into basically giving Kyrie Irving away for a hobbled Isaiah Thomas, a mediocre Jae Crowder, and a now useless Brooklyn Nets pick. Just Danny Ainge playing 4D virtual reality chess on his Oculus headset while the Cavaliers are playing tiddlywinks in the schoolyard sandbox.
