This is a story that hit me right in the feels. Full blown weep-a-thon type stuff.
49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin scored an 83-yard touchdown in San Francisco’s 31-21 win over the Giants on Sunday. When he crossed the goal line, he dropped to his knees for an emotional celebration before being joined by his teammates.
At the time, the reason behind Goodwin’s celebration wasn’t clear. On Sunday evening, the 49ers receiver revealed that he was playing with a heavy heart as he and his wife, Morgan, lost their baby son just hours earlier due to complications that led to a premature birth. (He posted a very emotional picture below)

I just wanna thank those who’ve genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself through out this pregnancy. Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am. Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family. 💙👣
Emotional stuff, I don’t know how he was able to play, but that’s amazing what he did. Sometimes getting away from everything is the best coping mechanism. Glad he caught a TD and his team won.
