Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum left yesterday’s game vs the Lakers with an ankle injury. After the game, Tatum was spotted in a walking boot and things weren’t looking good.
Tonight, the Celtics got about as good of an update as they could have hoped for on Tatum. His MRI returned negative and should miss minimal time.
Very good news for the Celtics. @jaytatum0 MRI results on right ankle come back negative. He is listed as questionable for Friday vs. Charlotte.

Even if he misses Friday’s game, he should be able to return to action come early next week before the Celtics big game next Thursday against the Golden State Warriors.
Tatum has clearly been the top rookie in the draft and it looks like Danny Ainge made the right move when he made the move to acquire Tatum. Lonzo Ball has underachieved this far while putting together numerous games with 6 or less points, and Markelle Fultz has been a complete disaster. He is currently shut down by the 76ers after his shooting woes continued.
Meanwhile Tatum has played in a big role early on with this Celtics team while getting an abundance of minutes in with Hayward being out. It’s good to see Celtics catch a break on the injury front with Tatum.
