The Boston Red Sox finished nearly last in total home runs in 2017 (168) after finishing at the top in 2016 (208). There’s no doubt this team felt the power outage after David Ortiz retired. The Sox need help, and they’re close to getting the biggest bat in baseball.
According to MLB Networks, Jon Morosi, the Red Sox are 1 of 4 teams in the running for Giancarlo Stanton:
Sources: In Giancarlo Stanton trade talks, #Marlins have had preliminary communication with #RedSox, #STLCards, #SFGiants, #Phillies. Talks expected to intensify at GM Meetings next week. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Could you imagine if Derek Jeter traded Stanton to the Sox, holy hell what a storm that would cause in New York. He would go from one of their most beloved players, to hated in an instant.
Stanton has monster power numbers, something the Sox need, my only concern is what Miami will want in return for him. I suspect they’re going to want at least two of the following of their choosing: Betts, Benintendi, Boegarts, Devers, or Bradley. And that’s only where talks start. But you get the biggest bat in baseball in return.
