Et tu, Rodney? With Rob Gronkowski taking a lot of heat across the league for his dirty hit on Bills CB Tre’Davious White, you’d think a former Patriot might have his back.
To be fair there really is no defending what Gronk did in this situation, though I do think calling for a suspension is a little much. The hit was extremely out of character for Gronkowski, it’s not like he’s a repeat offender like Vontaze Burfict or something, and Gronk immediately apologized for his actions after the game. I’m pretty sure there’s a official rule that says that if you’re sorry you’re not allowed to be suspended.
A nice hefty fine from the League should suffice as punishment and I’m sure the hellfire Bill Belichick is going to unleash on Gronkowski is far worse than any punishment the League office could dish out.
Though, on second though, a little week “vacation” for Gronk against a notoriously dirty Dolphins defense next week may not be the worse thing in the world.
