One week of playoff football down and three more to go. The race to the Super Bowl begins to really take shape during the Divisional round. Every year at least one Super Bowl contender has their season come to an end during the second round. Who will it be this season? Let’s find out.
AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS:
- Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots: In spite of their fantastic win against the Chiefs last Saturday, the Titans don’t stand a chance against the Patriots this coming Saturday. The Patriots aren’t going to blow a lead the same way the Chiefs did and on top of that they have now found motivation in the report published by ESPN last week outlining their demise. That’s just what the greatest coach and quarterback duo of all time needed, more motivation to go out and embarrass teams. The Titans also don’t have a pass rush dynamic enough to slow Tom Brady down and force him out of his element, not to mention they have the worst defense when defending pass catching backs. This game is going to be ugly. Expect a blowout. Final Score Prediction: Patriots 34 – Titans 10
- Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers: Well folks we have our annual Divisional round upset. The Steelers are too good to get blown out but the Jaguars defense will do enough to contain the Steelers offense and steal the game on a last minute drive (all while masking Blake Bortles’ incompetence). The Killer B’s will get beat up by Sack-Sonville and Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye will give the Steelers Receivers fits throughout the game. Neither quarterback will eclipse 200 passing yards as Leonard Fournette has a field day rushing for three touchdowns and over 150 yards. Ben Roethlisberger will make a critical mistake late that the Jags take full advantage of. Final Score Prediction:
Jaguars 24 -Steelers 21
NFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS:
- New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings: As good as the Vikings have been all season, the Saints have been just as good if not better recently. They have a rushing attack that no defense in the playoff race can contain. The Vikings will do their best but the speed of Alvin Kamara coupled with the power of Mark Ingram will be too much (not to mention one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation in Drew Brees). This game will come down to Brees experience in pressure situations. He will know what to do and how to do it and Case Keenum won’t. Expect an instant classic. Final Score Prediction: Saints 30 – Vikings 28
- Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles: The Falcons head to Philly where they are 3 point favorites on the road. Nick Foles vs Matt Ryan, I’ll take Matty Ice every time, even blowing a 28-3 lead. This will be considered an upset by seeding, but really, it isn’t. Without Carson Wentz, it’ll be tough for Philly. Final Score Prediction: Falcons 27 – Eagles 17
