WEEI-Patriots quarterback Tom Brady met with Kirk Minihane and Gerry Callahan of the Kirk & Callahan show on Wednesday night to clear the air over criticism of his daughter by WEEI’s Alex Reimer last week.
Brady cut short his weekly call with K&C on Monday because he was upset about Reimer’s comments criticizing his young daughter over her appearance in part one of the Tom vs. Time documentary. He then took to the podium in Minnesota that night and said he hoped Reimer wouldn’t be fired.
On Wednesday, he spoke with the hosts of K&C before his scheduled media availability, a conversation that Minihane said went well. Video of the conversation showed Brady at ease and laughing.
“Brady was gracious, as always,” Minihane said. “We’re looking forward to talking about it tomorrow.”
Say what you will about K&C, but they really haven’t deserved the heat they’ve gotten for the comments Alex Reimer made about Tom Brady’s daughter.
First off, Reimer didn’t even make the comments while on K&C, rather he called Brady’s daughter a “pissant” during an evening show with Mut Mutnansky.
Secondly, it’s not even like Reimer is a fixture of K&C’s morning show. He’s merely an on and off member of the show’s “casting couch”, which rotates in various Boston media personalities once or twice a week to be the show’s third voice.
Sure Reimer is guilty of worshiping at the alter of Kirk Minihane, as he has tried to emulate his radio idol the first second his nasally voice hit the airways, but that’s hardly Minihane’s fault.
And yes, the nature of K&C does breed an atmosphere of gossip and name calling, but again that doesn’t mean they should be lumped into the comments Reimer made.
I’m sure Tom Brady doesn’t have the time to get bogged down in radio show minutiae and is definitely not aware of exactly who says and on what shows, but Tom certainly has every right to be angry with WEEI as a whole for employing someone who would personally attack his children for no reason.
Especially given the fact that Tom has been nothing but respectful and professional during his weekly interviews with the station for the last 15 plus years.
I’m sure K&C were able to clear the air with Brady and throw that turd Alex Reimer right under the bus where he belongs.
Here’s the footage of the interaction–
