For those that don’t live in the New England market, you need to find alternatives to be able to watch the Patriots on Sundays. For some, it’s streaming the game online, for others, it’s an NFL Sunday Ticket add on to their DirecTV package. For those that have elected the latter option, get ready to go deeper into your pockets for the 2018 season.
Starting this coming season, the Sunday Ticket will cost $293.94 for the season. And if you want the RedZone channel to go along with it, tack on another $102.01. These numbers are a nearly 5% increase over last season. Since 2016, the cost of NFL Sunday Ticket has increased by 14 percent, despite lower ratings for the NFL during that period.
DirecTV has confirmed the increase on its website. But for those who remember when the package used to cost $99 for the entire regular season, paying almost $400 for the NFL is a hard pill to swallow, but since DirecTV has a stronghold on the Sunday Ticket, there is no competition, so they can do whatever they want.
These prices are getting a tad ridiculous. It’s pretty bad when your cell phone bill and cable bill is more than your car payment. I don’t need the Sunday Ticket, but some people have no choice. It’s only a matter of time before people start finding another hobby on Sunday’s. I’m beginning to think Mark Cuban is right… Greed will eventually ruin the NFL. As for those fans that’ll be affected, look into Reddit NFL Streams. Highly recommend. We will post tips for that as we near the season, or better yet, threaten to cancel, they’ll throw in the Sunday Ticket for you or discount it heavily.
