Nothing stings worse than losing the Super Bowl. It was beyond frustrating to see Brady lead the offense down the field and pretty much score at will while the defense was in shambles like Lionel Richie, All Night Long. It is what it is though, Philly played great and I can lose with dignity.
That being said, I just saw the list of upcoming unrestricted free agents the Patriots have and it’s pretty scary. The following players become free agents come March 14:Some pretty glaring holes opening up and a lot of players are going to hit the open market. Bolden, Amendola, Lewis, Slater and Ebner are probably top priority. After the whole situation with Butler, I have no idea what’s ahead for him, I wouldn’t be surprised if Patricia lured him to Detroit.
The Patriots are also going to have some holes to fill on the sidelines. The Patriots have lost DC Matt Patricia to Detroit, and OC Josh McDaniels could be heading to Indy. Personally, a change in coordinators isn’t the end of the world. Fresh new blood isn’t a bad thing, unless you’re swimming with sharks. The Patriots have ranked 25th, 26th, 13th, 9th, 8th, and 29th in yards allowed per game since Patricia took over as DC. They give up a ton of yards and consequently, they give up points. Change may not be a bad thing.
The Patriots will have some major decisions to make and some of these guys will not be back, faces that we won’t want to see leave. But Belichick will go back to his algorithm that dissects the league and it spits out a report on who he needs to bring to Foxboro. Sort of like the Athletics and Billy Bean. Going to get interesting around here in the offseason. Only 7 more months to go. Grab a Snickers everyone.
