What a glorious day for gamblers. Today, the highest court in the land, struck down the federal anti-sports gambling law which will give states the go ahead to allow sports betting.
Two big developments from sports gambling being legalized: 1. The audiences most affected will be international, young and mobile/social. All ripe markets. 2. It opens up new revenue streams by lifting restrictions for advertising on places such as casinos. Signage, sponsorships.

Nothing like legalizing something that I’ve been doing illegally for years. This is pretty exciting because gambling on sports was such a hassle if you didn’t live near a sportsbook. The online sportsbook that I used made it such a hassle to withdraw your money that you end up just blowing it all. Now, it seems like the process will perhaps get a little easier since it will now be legal. It looks like each state will still have the option to make it legal, but seeing the revenue it will generate, it would be stupid to not follow suit.
That being said, legalizing sports betting with only baseball in action is like ending prohibition but only being able to drink Miller Lite, but I guess I can make do for now. Wonder what this means for Pete Rose? One thing this will do is make it look bad when it seems a game is fixed.
As always, gamble responsibly 🙂
