There were rumors this offseason that the Patriots were shopping around Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski, but apparently the talks were shot down after Gronk made it known that he refused to play for any other team than the Patriots.

Well so much for the theory that no one wants to play for the Patriots, huh? The trade talks ended, and the Patriots got a new deal worked out for Gronk indicating that the big man will likely finish his career with the Patriots. It also seems that the Gronk retirement talks we heard in the offseason coincided with any reported trades. Gronk only wants to play here, or he would have retired. That’s incredibly awesome and loyal. You gotta love that. I am really looking forward to seeing this team take the field today, it’s been too long.
